UIP together with the railway associations ALLRAIL, CER, ERFA, FEPORT, FTE and UIRR have submitted the sector’s proposal on 3 June 2026 to the European Commission on the establishment of the European Railway Platform (ERP) as mandated by Article 63 in the railway capacity regulation.
The associations express strong support for this platform to improve coordination across Europe’s rail network.
The new EU legislation on railway infrastructure capacity recognises the need for structured dialogue between infrastructure managers and the wider rail sector. ERP would thus serve as the market-side counterpart to the European Network of Infrastructure Managers (ENIM), giving freight operators, passenger railway undertakings, freight forwarders, and other infrastructure users a voice in shaping Europe-wide rules and procedures.
The associations are also calling on the European Commission to approve this proposal without delay, with the goal of having the ERP operational in time to support consultations on European frameworks as early as 2026.
