Joint Statement: EVR as single point of contact and ERA as registration entity

Joint Statement: EVR as single point of contact and ERA as registration entity

On 15 November 2023, UIP together with several associations representing the rail sector, jointly signed the statement to support the implementation of the centralised function of the European Vehicle Register (EVR) as well as the transfer of relevant data of registered vehicles from the National Vehicle Registers to the European Vehicle Register (EVR). Furthermore, the signatories support the European Railway Agency in becoming a registration entity in its own right.

The EVR as the single point of contact for vehicle registration promises an optimization of processes and greater flexibility.

Even with the addition of ERA to the pool of national registration entities, applicants shall remain free to register via the EVR with the registration entity of their choice, thus eliminating any potential language and capacity issues.

All applicants, but especially SMEs, shall in this sense benefit from a more streamlined management of their requests and facilitate upcoming fleet innovations like ETCS, FRMCS and DAC.

On the subject of data access: data entered into the EVR should not be made publicly accessible.

The statement further details the position of the signatories on the assignment of the country code, the set up of an Expert group and the URVIS number.
