We welcome Mr David Zindo as UIP’s new President
Mr David Zindo takes over from Dr. Heiko Fischer who steered the work of UIP as President for 11 years!
Mr David Zindo, CEO of STREEM Group, takes on the role of UIP President for the next 3 years. He was elected during the UIP General Assembly in Nice, France on 15 June 2023. He is seconded by Mr Per-Anders Benthin – CEO of Transwaggon – and Mr Johann Feindert – CEO of GATX Rail Europe – who have been elected Vice Presidents.
Mr David Zindo brings a wealth of experience to this new position: He is the CEO of Streem Group (formerly Ermewa Group) and member of the UIP Executive Board since 2015. He was previously Chief Financial Officer at SNCF and held various positions in the finance departments of Geodis and Veolia Environmental Services groups as well as at EY Audit in Paris.
He replaces Dr. Heiko Fischer who steered the work of UIP as President for 11 years ( 2004 – 2007; 2015 – 2023) with his valuable input that stems from his extensive experience in the rail freight industry. As a man of conviction and vision, he always set great store by the need to innovate and transform rail freight to respond to the future challenges and expectations of customers and society. He was a leading force in cementing the important role of private wagon keepers in developing solutions for rail freight such as the creation of the GCU – the General Contract of Use, a cornerstone of today’s rail freight operations.
