VAP blog – the future of rail freight with a can-do attitude

Dr. Heiko Fischer, President of International Union of Wagon Keepers (UIP), sat down with our Swiss member VAP – Association for the shippers and logistics industry for an interview on the future of rail freight.
A future he thinks that needs more of a ‘can do’ attitude and a sense of elation from public and private stakeholders to bring about the needed change. He evokes how digital platform hubs should be pioneered by the sector, how a ‘masterplan’ for European rail freight could deliver on the commitments for an optimized network and how Swiss single wagonload traffic has a future worth saving.
