UIP 27th Management Report 1976
A certain business recovery happened in the second half of 1975 but nobody in Europe saw it as the sign of a definitive recovery of economic activity. However, for the second half of 1976, this movement of recovery was weakening. In a period of change as we know today, the value of economic forecasts has a particularly uncertain character.
Despite an increase of the tonnage transported by railway in 1976, the results remained below those of the pre-1975.
In several sectors of the industry, the number of wagons P not used increased again. Fleet modernisation continued and the number of new wagons put into service largely covered the needs of the users. Despite the efforts made by most countries to contain inflation, the increase in prices of construction continues to considerably affect operating costs.
The 1976 Management Report is available in both French and German.
