UIP 50th Management Report 1999

In 1999 the European recognition of our association has still increased, helped by the continuing presence in Brussels of our Secretary General who has developed relations with both the European Commission and other international professional associations based in Belgium.

UIP is now regularly consulted by the Directorate-General for Transport of the European Commission and is part of working groups, in particular regarding the rail noise issue.

UIP is also involved in the revision of COTIF and in the RID committees. With the UIC, meetings on the 433 leaflet and on the guarantee agreement continued within the UIC/UIP committee, as well as the follow-up of several technical developments through the C5 committee and S 25 B Sub-committee.
