EC Rail Standardisation Coordination Platform for Europe (RASCOP)
RASCOP is a joint coordination and advisory group established by the European Commission to coordinate and streamline the activities of relevant stakeholders active in the EU in the development of European and international standards and other technical documents related to the railway sector.
Its first aim is to contribute to streamlining the European standardisation landscape, with the objective that "the right documents are developed, at the right place, by the right actors and at the right time", taking into account the European legal framework and policies, the needs of the various stakeholders and the future developments of the railway system.
A second objective is to coordinate related activities at international level among the stakeholders in the railway field in order to foster the promotion of European Standards and regulatory framework outside of the EU and more generally to influence the development of international standards.
A third objective is to ensure that the needs of rail-related standardisation are taken into account in EU policies having an impact on railand in general standardisation processes, and that there is coherence between rail specific standards and standards related to other sectors.
The members are: European Commission (EC); European Union Agency for Railways (the Agency); European Committee for Standardization (CEN); European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC); European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking (S2R); International Union of Railways (UIC) and the representative bodies CER, EIM, EPTTOLA, ERFA, NB-Rail, UIP, UIRR, UITP and UNIFE.
