TELEMATICS APPLICATIONS (TAF) CHANGE CONTROL MANAGEMENT

The European Railway Agency, in its role as system authority for Telematics Change Control Management (CCM) must establish the transparent process to manage the system changes to the TAF technical annexes, with the contribution of the sector’s and other representatives. The Change Control Management consists of the management of activities, which allow moving from one baseline release to another one. The Change Requests (CR’s) offer a transparent, formal and ordered processing of the changes leading to new releases. Conversely, the definition of a new baseline necessarily implies that significant changes (enhancements) are brought to the the TAF system. An enhancement may consist in adding a new function, keeping the functionality of the previous baseline unchanged, or may consist in changing some functionality, performance or non-functional characteristics of the previous baseline. If above changes impact the Telematics Applications, the Telematics Applications system version number is always incremented when defining a new baseline.

The Change Control Management (CCM) is the process in place to monitor the evolutions of the documents used to implement the TAF and TAP regulations.
Two CCM processes exist:
• the ERA CCM process in charge of maintaining and monitoring the technical documents listed in Appendix I of TAF TSI and the technical documents B.1 to B.30 listed in Annex III of TAP TSI;
• the Sector CCM process in charge of maintaining and monitoring all changes related to the documents managed by the sector.
For both processes the Telematic JSG is in charge of approving the Change Requests (CRs) before their submission to the Agency.
