ERA project facilitation of combined transport
Transport is the backbone of economy and railways are the backbone of transport. While TSls aim at removing technical and legal barriers between Member States, networks and different suppliers, we need to remove the barriers existing between different land transport modes.
For these reasons, the Agency has decided to launch a project on “Facilitation of combined transport (FCT)” with the purpose of analysing and propose improvements regarding integration of railway transport with the other transport modes, with a focus on rail - road interface.
The project will develop a report analysing the current situation, proposing concrete solutions for improvement, interfaces and identifying the appropriate mainstream processes to implement the proposed solutions.
The project foresees plenary meetings, in which the project members endorse the incremental part of the project, and subgroups dealing with the following specific technical topics:
Vehicle related topics
Load related topics
Infrastructure related topics
Operation related topics
Registers related topics
Conformity assessment and legislation alignment
